The Mission of the West Coast Center for Alternative Education is to:

"Increase in magnitude and in strength our ability to provide dropouts a General Education Diploma, through the process of classroom education, independent living skills, life skills, and entrepreneurship, in an environment which is alternative to public education."

Description:
The West Coast Center for Alternative Education (WCCAE) a California Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization, which provides an alternative academic General Education
Diploma Course to high school dropouts, along with all the valuable skills needed to be a successful and productive citizen.

We will accomplish this by identifying and supporting the vital needs of each student attending our program. We will network ourselves with existing organizations,
support their efforts, collaborate, and grow together.

By providing educational services to young adults between the ages of 18-25 it will help to increase the amount of students who obtain a GED, and in return, our efforts will impact a decrease in crime rates, drug & alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancies, and the lack of economic growth.

Our best efforts, we will communicate one on one with each of our students and provide support based on each individual need, versus the common need as a whole.
By doing this we believe it will allow our students the ability to focus on their education without major concerns of their own personal problems.

History:
The West Coast Center for Alternative Education originally began as the Center for Alternative Education (CAE) in 2005. It started to form under the San Francisco League of Urban Gardeners as a sub-unit non-profit. In September of 2007, the vision became reality and the organization was incorporated under the 501(c)3 status.
