Fotovision advances social documentary photography and story telling through education, dialog and community. We offer workshops, classes and public lectures. We also advocate for our photographers through our newsletter, who persist against all odds in bringing the important humanist stories of our day to us with compassion and insight.

Description:
We are a small self sustaining non-profit providing support and continuing education for the working photojournalist and documentary photographer. We are based in Berkeley, CA, but offer programs in Berkeley and San Francisco. We have over 2200 people on our email newsletter list, have had over 650 participants in our programs, offer collectors prints and signed books for sale, and have an innovative set of ideas for our future. We are a high impact organization that is moving toward becoming a stronger advocate for documentary photographers in addition to the services we offer.

History:
For five years Fotovision has been a leader in presenting workshops, book signings and lectures from world class documentary photographers. Visiting photographers have included Sabastião Salgado, Alex Webb, Don McCullin, Donna Ferrato, James Natchway and Eugene Richards. Fotovision provides connectivity, knowledge and inspiration for our community in addition to training the next generation of photographers committed to creating a visual record of the social condition. Our public programs have been a vital source of information about the world to the entire Bay Area and beyond.
