Our purpose is to sustain and expand comprehensive services to elders. Through neighborhood based activism and advocacy, it is our mission to Respect and Empower seniors to enhance their quality of life. We are strongly committed to securing the rights and dignity of all elders and their families.
Description:
We are a One Stop Shop for Senior Services, providing information and referrals to a variety of San Francisco Services for Seniors. Some of our services include podiatry appointments, S.H.A.R.E. Food Program, Brown Bag Program, Blood Pressure Check Ups and Preventive Health Care Classes and Speakers. We provide a variety of recreational activities i.e., Arts & Crafts, Bingo, Bid Whist and board games, Line Dancing, Low Impact Exercise, Noon Meals and a Nutritionist and Special Events and road trips.
History:
BHPMSS has been in operation for over 35 years and is a stable force in the community. Other agencies and events started by BHPMSS are The Bayview Hunters Point Network for Elders, Black Cuisine, National Black Aging Network and Tribute to the Clergy.In 1974 we started the Adult Day Health Center in which we provide Health & Social Services for frail elders & disabled persons with chronic illnesses, including nursing, physical and occupational therapy, social work, recreation, speech therapy and nutritional counseling. Getting homebound elders out the home with wheelchair accessible transportation and we also provide support for caregivers and independence for participants.
