The mission of Our City Forest is to cultivate a greener, healthier urban environment and a renewed sense of community by involving Silicon Valley residents in the understanding, planting and care of the urban forest.

OCF Goals and Objectives: • To increase citizen involvement in tree planting and tree care • To plant and steward trees using the highest professional standards • To increase public awareness of the value, benefits and needs of trees • To develop a dedicated and diverse volunteer corps • To protect and enhance urban forests in Santa Clara County • To achieve high tree survival rates through citizen involvement • To inspire, mobilize and train volunteers from service clubs, schools, businesses and agencies • To build a sense of community by facilitating grassroots environmental action efforts
History:
OCF Accomplishments (since 1994) • Facilitated the planting of 30,000 15 gallon shade trees at schools, parks, and streets. • Developed a volunteer corps of 250 trained "Tree Amigos." • Granted 6,500 free shade trees to 155 area schools and 40 City parks. • Mobilized 80,000+ community volunteers to participate in over 900 projects • Developed a Tree Patrol program to track young trees for 3 years. • Maintained a 90% tree survival rate of trees planted since 1994. • Leveraged over 2 million dollars in tree grants for San José neighborhoods.
