- Foster Care Image
Description:
We are the national network for those dedicated to improving the lives of foster and adopted youth which includes: foster agencies, foster parents, social workers, and volunteers. Foster Care Central provides the tools through our fully interactive website including discussion forums, videos, resource listings, and the ability to create or join groups. Foster Care Central is a California Non-Profit Benefit Corporation (tax exempt status is pending).
History:
Foster Care Central was created to bring attention to the nations forgotten and most vulnerable population, the 500,000 + kids in foster care. The statistics are dire and show no signs of improving in the near future: 46% do not complete High School, 84% became an unwed parent. Just 2 yrs after leaving the system, 51% were unemployed. 30% had no health insurance. 25% were homeless. 70% of all State Penitentiary inmates have spent time in the foster care system. The financial impact alone costs us as a society over 10 billion dollars a year! We are becoming the central place for change because of member driven community who are dedicated to improving the lives of foster and adopted youth by providing resources, answers, and force for change.
