Opportunity Impact provides youth living in public housing with the skills they need to create new opportunities and better their future!
Description:
Our comprehensive youth program operates from a community based location with a daily routine that is focused around three core areas:
Life Skills: activities, projects and lessons that cultivate positive personal habits & help establish healthy relationships with peers and adults
Academics: tutoring and academic skills classes, academic counseling workshops & school advocacy
Enrichment: one-on-one case management, home visits, referrals & any other support as needed
History:
Founded in 2007 and starting service in 2008, Opportunity Impact is a new organization with a fresh approach for creating sustainable life changes for youth growing up in public housing. Our experienced staff brought together more than three decades of work with at-risk youth to create a program designed for youth growing up in the complicated social environment that public housing manifests. The program is specifically aimed at helping ensure youth stay on track academically and are equipped with the same skills and resources as youth growing up in our most affluent communities. It takes a community of caring adults surrounding a child to ensure they receive all the encouragement and support needed to reach their full potential.
