The lack of clean and accessible drinking water is the second largest killer worldwide of children under five. Every 15 seconds a child dies from thirst or water-related diseases. That’s 5000 kids that die every day from a completely preventable cause.

On World Water Day March 22, 2007, New York City diners were invited to pay $1 for the tap water they usually enjoyed for free. The result: $100,000 raised in one day for UNICEF programs that provide safe drinking water for children around the world.

Join UNICEF as the Tap Project celebrates water nationally from March 22-28, 2009, and be part of the second generation of volunteers to embrace the TAP Project in San Francisco! Help us raise awareness about water-related problems, raise money for UNICEF’s life-saving work, and reinforce March 22nd as World Water Day by recruiting your favorite neighborhood restaurants! Together we can save lives.

The idea is simple.

  1. Register now as a volunteer at www.tapproject.org/volunteer to receive your volunteer kit in the mail.
  2. Register and attend the TAP Project SF training session at UCSF on Saturday, February 23, 2009.

  3. Recruit your favorite restaurants and network with other interested parties so that they can participate, too.

  4. Celebrate your efforts during the week of March 22nd-28th by dining out with your friends!
