Play Flag Football is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide an enjoyable, affordable flag-football experience for boys and girls ages five to eighteen. We believe that by supplying children with fun activities in a safe environment we can help promote healthy development physically, emotionally and socially.
Description:
As the largest youth football organization in Northern California, Play Flag Football is already doing an outstanding job of meeting the needs of participants. This flag-football experience is provided three different ways: year-round, age-appropriate leagues; youth summer camps and after-school programs. Each program provides training for staff and volunteers, emphasizing the importance of providing a positive atmosphere where all participants can succeed. Leagues run year-round on Sundays, with four ten-week seasons that range from Cupertino to Gilroy to Fremont. Summer camps provide fun football related activities for boys and girls ages five to fourteen. Age-appropriate fitness training is provided, focusing on the importance of physical activity and easy ways to inject exercise into participants daily lives. Our after-school program is a once a week program that gives students an opportunity to participate in sports that might not otherwise have the opportunity due to financial or transportation restrictions.
History:
Play Flag Football has a proven track record of providing participants with an enjoyable league experience as indicated by the consistent league growth since its inception. Established in 2003 with only 150 participants in its inaugural season, Play Flag Football experienced solid growth so that by 2006 it was serving over 1,500 young people. In 2007 over 4,000 children participated in the league and camp programs.
