Last updated on November 14, 2008

Uhuru Foods raises funds to support the African-led Uhuru Movement. Uhuru Foods supports the black community's call for a real, lasting peace through shared prosperity and economic development.

Description:
Uhuru Foods coordinates food booths at Farmer's Markets, Streetfairs and Music Festivals.
We also co-sponsor the Uhuru Holiday Pie Campaign, a fundraiser for the African People's Education and Defense Fund. For 24 years, the Uhuru Holiday Pie Campaign has been a holiday tradition allowing the broadest sector of our communities to support economic development and social justice for African people.

We are organized by the African People's Solidarity Committee, formed to raise funds and win political support for the campaigns and programs of the Uhuru Movement. The Uhuru Movement is an African working class led movement that struggles for self-determination and the unification and liberation of Africa and African people.

History:
Uhuru Foods has coordinated streetfairs, farmer's markets, and the holiday pie campaign since 1979.

We have coordinated food booths at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Reggae on the River, San Francisco Pride Festival, Oakland's Art and Soul, the Oxnard Strawberry Festival, San Jose Jazz Festival, Fillmore Jazz Festival and numerous other festivals thoughout the Bay Area.
