We are dedicated to exposing school children to a full array of performing arts in a theater environment to further their cultural education and expand their awareness of their own potentials.
Description:
PAYS books national and local professional performance groups, from the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra to The Cloggers, into the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. We produce a school-year daytime schedule and receive ticket requests from the schools. We also coordinate busing with the San Mateo School District, which provides buses when possible for many of the schools. Our ushers seat on average 1200 kids at 12-24 performances a year. We provide wheelchair seating and language-signing when needed.
History:
PAYS has been providing cultural exposure to school age children through professional theater performances for about 20 years, exactly as we do now, through the wonderful support from our community, patrons, and volunteers.
