San Francisco Parks Trust is dedicated to supporting parks, green open spaces, and recreation centers within San Francisco.

Description:
San Francisco Parks Trust (formerly Friend of Recreation and Parks Dept.) supports greening efforts throughout the city through fiscal sponsorship, volunteer coordination, and capital fundraising.

Our fiscal sponsorship program (Park Partners) combines our fundraising expertise, financial services, insurance, and administrative support with your program, community group, or project. By combining efforts to reach shared goals, SFPT and
Park Partners are able to achieve mutual success.

The Street Parks Program is a partnership between SFPT and the San Francisco Department of Public Works (DPW) to support the development and maintenance of community-managed open spaces on DPW owned properties. In addition to aiding community groups to develop new community green spaces, SFPT hosts monthly community gardening days in various gardens across San Francisco.

History:
Founded in 1971 with a $50,000 grant from developer and philanthropist Walter Shorenstein, San Francisco Parks Trust, formerly Friends of Recreation & Parks, began as an all-volunteer organization dedicated to supporting San Francisco parks.

This year we celebrate 35 years of leadership and successes in supporting San Francisco parks, recreation centers, and open spaces. With a commitment to improving and sustaining our park system, we honor the achievements of the past. By building on our successes, we are creating healthy environments and promoting citizen stewardship of our parks to ensure a healthy City for future generations.
