For kids!, San Mateo Foster City Education Foundation is dedicated to providing funding to maintain and enhance the educational experience of the K-8 public school students in San Mateo and Foster City.
Description:
For kids! Education Foundation is the only fundraising organization supporting every child in the 16 elementary and 4 middle schools in the San Mateo Foster City Elementary School District. The Foundation is made up of parents, district employees, community members and business leaders who believe that excellent public schools are the hallmark of strong communities. Over the years we have supported school libraries, technology, classroom and instrumental music, middle school sports and student counseling services.
Our organization is led by a volunteer Board of Directors and employs an Executive Director and an Administrative Assistant. The San Mateo Foster City Elementary School District we support is the largest yet lowest funded district in San Mateo County, serving more than 10,000 students. This year the district faces the most severe budget cuts from Sacramento in years. Required to submit a balanced budget by June 30th, the district has been forced to eliminate vital programs such as elementary library assistants and instrumental music.
For Kids! is working hard to raise funds to allow the district to reinstate some of these programs. Partnering with more than 100 volunteers from our school communities, we have raised about $225,000 this school year, enough to reinstate the elementary library assistants for 4 hours each day. We are now working on raising an additional $60,000 to reinstate the elementary instrumental music program.
History:
For Kids! Education Foundation was formed in 1989 by a group of visionary parents, district employees and community leaders with a passionate commitment to the educational excellence of the San Mateo Foster City Elementary School District. Since 1992 the Foundation has donated more than $2.4 million to the district to support vital programs such as literacy, technology and music for all students, as well as after-school sports and counseling services.

Take 92 east toward Hayward and take the Foster City Blvd. exit, the last exit before getting on the San Mateo Bridge. Turn left onto Foster City Blvd. and cross the first light. Turn right at Chess Dr., the second intersection. Look for the San Mateo Foster City Elementary School District sign on your left past the first intersection. Turn left into the parking lot and park in one of the visitor's spots.
