Jump! Theatre

Jump! Theatre's mission is to product outstanding works of theater that tell authentic stories of mental illness form a variety of perspectives (patients, caregivers and practitioners)

Description:
Jump! Theatre is a small company with 8 active members, all of who have experience as theater artists and as mental health consumers or practitioners. We are a nomadic agency (no fixed location) with office and performance space at a variety of locations in San Francisco. We are a member of Theatre Bay Area and have contacts with NAMI, Family Service Agency and other community groups. We would like to incorporate volunteers who are in recovery from psychiatric disabilities who would like to help in an administrative capacity.

History:
Jump! was founded 5 years ago by Nena St. Louis, a sculptor and theater artist and Rebecca Longworth, a local theater director and administrative manager. They were joined in 2008 by Roberta D'Alois, a former MFT and theater artist who is now the organization's Producing Artistic Director. Since 2004 Jump! has produced several plays and performance opportunities at theaters, mental health facilities and NAMI meeting spaces as well as its well received main stage production Cuckoo, in February 2009. We are currently planning our Springboard New Works Festival projected to occur in April 2010.
