We are a non-profit scientific and educational organization dedicated to sharing the excitement of astronomy with teachers, students, astronomy enthusiasts, and the public at large.
History:
The Society was founded in 1889, on the Pacific coast of the U.S. Today it has members in all 50 states and over 40 other countries and is the largest and most active Society devoted to astronomy education and outreach in the world.
