Training Leaders, Providing Gear, Getting Youth Outdoors. Bay Area Wilderness Training is dedicated to getting urban youth into the power of wilderness.
Description:
Bay Area Wilderness Training began with the idea that California's bountiful wilderness areas are a vast, yet untapped, resource for local youth-serving organizations. BAWT promotes the wise use of these national, state and regional parks through our professional wilderness leadership training. Then, we link our workshops to our outdoor equipment library, so that youth organizations and schools may outfit their groups for trips of their own -- free of charge! We believe that a well led trip to granite cliffs, isolated beaches and ancient redwoods, provide youth with powerful and life changing experiences..

The BAWT folks are fun to work with and they truly create a sense of community within their volunteers. Plus I love getting these deserving young people out on trips into nature! posted on October 29, 2007 |
Overall Experience
This is a small organization with passionate, committed people who give volunteers as much responsibility as they can take on, and equal amounts of gratitude.
