The Institute on Aging provides non-profit services to enable seniors to stay in their homes and in the community for over 20 years.

IOA's mission is to enhance the quality of life for adults as they age by enabling them to maintain their health, well-being, independence, and participation in the community. We fulfill this mission for a diverse community by developing and providing innovative programs in health, social service, creative arts, spiritual support, education, and research.

Description:
Our comprehensive programs include: answering your questions and locating resources, providing assessment, counseling, care coordination, short or long term home care, money management, adult day programs, caregiver support, grief and loss support, and much more. We are your partner in finding the best services to meet your needs. And as a non-profit, many of our programs are free.

History:
Institute on Aging has been serving the Bay Area for over 20 years providing non-profit services to enable seniors to stay in their homes and in the community. Volunteers are needed on an on-going basis to spend time with older adults. Activities may include playing board games or cards, arts & crafts, singing, dancing, or simply talking. We have clients who speak Russian, Chinese, and Spanish so this is a great opportunity to practice your language skills!

Volunteers will have an opportunity to work in many diverse areas within IOA's programs, depending on skills, abilities, comfort, and preference. We will always try to be flexible in scheduling to ensure that the needs of the volunteers are met, as well as those of the programs. Our volunteers are important to us! We appreciate not only their hard work, but look forward to the enthusiasm, creativity and diversity that each one brings to the program.
