The Northern California Community Loan Fund (NCCLF) is a nonprofit lender and technical assistance provider that works to revitalize low-income communities in our region. We provide loans and financial training to organizations that develop affordable housing, community facilities, job-training programs, and vital human services.
Description:
We strengthen the economic base of low-income communities by assisting community-based organizations and enterprises that promote housing, economic development, human services, and models of participatory ownership and management. We build the long-term capacity of these organizations and enterprises by providing access to affordable loan capital and technical assistance; we provide our investors with a reliable mechanism for channeling their capital to effective community development projects. We seek to further social and economic change by increasing public awareness about the social impact of investment decisions; by advocating with lenders and other capital sources for making more resources available for community-based development; and by working with other organizations that share our goals.
History:
NCCLF was founded is 1987 to create a socially-responsible investment vehicle to provide capital and expertise to revitalize low-income communities. NCCLF supports the important work of hundreds of nonprofit organizations in Northern California. Since our inception we have committed nearly $36M to 197 nonprofit projects in Northern California. This extensive community lending experience has allowed NCCLF to successfully launch a technical assistance program as well as the Nonprofit Space Capital Fund, which offers grants and intensive technical assistance to help nonprofits acquire or expand existing space.
