The Mission of the Riley Center is to empower women and children affected by domestic violence by providing cultrually sensitve direct services and community education.

Description:
The overall Riley Center philosophy is one of empowerment and autonomy. In order to empower women and children to help themselves, we offer non-judgemental support and help identify options, utilizing a feminist, peer-based model. We believe that everyone has a right to live a life free from violence and abuse as well as to make their own choicess and decisions regarding their own lives. We may not always agree with or understand these decisions, but we respect them. This includes supporting the choices women make to leave or to stay with an abusive partner, as well as their right to defend themselves.
Because violence against women and children is deeply rooted in our society, we also strive to address oppression. We are supportive of all experiences and do not make judgements based on race, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, ability, economic status, religion, addictions, mental health, HIV status, occupation or immigration status. We strive to meet women's and children's needs in a culturally competent and language-accessible atmosphere. However, we openly acknowledge and challenge our limitations as service providers. We believe that in order to end domestic violence, we must not only provide direct services, but also effect social and political change.
