Self-Help for the Elderly is dedicated to improving the quality of life for elder adults by empowering seniors to help themselves through a comprehensive range of multicultural and multilingual services.

Description:
Self-Help for the Elderly is a nonprofit organization offering services to over 25,000 seniors in the Bay Area including nutrition, licensed home healthcare & hospice,, employment training and development, assisted living, adult day healthcare, low-income senior housing, and social services.

History:
From our humble beginnings in 1966 assisting seniors in San Francisco’s Chinatown, we have expanded our network of social and welfare services to 29 locations encompassing four Bay Area counties and serving over 25,000 seniors last year alone.

The founding of Self-Help in 1966 created a structured body to bring together individuals with interests in community and social programs while establishing progressive fund-raising activities, innovative special events, and vital community outreach all of which set the momentum for Self-Help to be the standard of a provider of senior services.

With an extensive range of services, the unwavering mission of Self-Help for the Elderly is to improve quality of life by promoting the independence, dignity, and self-worth of seniors through the continuum of care for individuals, their families, and the community.
