Shanti is a non-profit social services and health support organization that has operated in San Francisco since 1974. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life, improving the well-being, and promoting the independence of people living with HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. Shanti is committed to delivering services that are culturally relevant, client-centered, non-judgmental, and responsive to the changing needs of the people living with life-threatening illnesses. We aim to support the dignity and self-esteem of people as they find their own solutions to the challenge of disease. Shanti is conveniently located in the San Francisco Civic Center neighborhood, at 730 Polk St. 94109.

History:
Shanti was founded in 1974. Since its inception, Shanti has trained more than 15,000 individuals in the Bay Area and 600 organizations around the world in compassionately providing emotional and practical support to clients dealing with life-threatening illnesses and poverty. Recognized as the first community-based AIDS Organization in the country, Shanti serves over 1,600 underserved San Francisco residents with breast cancer or HIV/AIDS annually.
