The Salvation Army began its work in San Francisco and the Bay Area over 120 years ago. Today, there are eleven facilities in San Francisco and South San Francisco serving persons in need without discrimination. The Salvation Army is dedicated to serving the whole person by helping people to find health, hope, and stability.

The programs provided at The Salvation Army San Francisco facilities include: a seniors' residence with 257 units; a congregant meal program for seniors in 3 neighborhoods; Meals That Heal, a meal delivery program for homebound seniors and other critically ill persons in the Tenderloin neighborhood; alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs for adults; social service caseworkers in 5 neighborhoods; REACH energy assistance through PG&E; community outreach in Spanish, Chinese, and Korean; and children and youth programs in 7 neighborhoods throughout San Francisco.
