The Women's Daytime Drop-In Center (WDDC) is a non-profit program addressing the needs of homeless women and children to ensure that they have a safe daytime refuge where they receive support, nourishing meals, and access to community resources to overcome homelessness and regain self sufficiency.
Description:
The Women's Daytime Drop-In Center services include: · A nourishing breakfast and lunch prepared by clients and volunteers · Transportation assistance to medical, employment, housing, and social service appointments. · Information and referral · Parenting workshops · Advocacy · Housing referral and placement · Case Management · A specialized children's program. · HIV education and prevention · Chemical dependency groups and counseling · Bridget Transitional House
History:
Established in 1988 as a volunteer cooperative, WDDC's staff continue to be mostly community volunteers providing services five days a week. WDDC has evolved from its original mission of providing emergency and crisis response to a program of on-going support services. WDDC serves an average of 250 women and children each month in a nurturing, home-like environment. Services are available at no fee to any homeless woman or child.
