Last updated on November 17, 2008

A one stop center where seniors (60+) can be provided with neighborhood based information and referrals. An inviting place with opportunities to socialize, maintain health and independence that serves nutritious meals.

Description:
Services are provided in English and Spanish include short and long term case management for isolated or at-risk seniors. The Always Active-Health Promotion Program helps seniors maintain and improve their health to ensure their independence. Other services include adult education, English as a Second Language, citizenship classes, computer lab, library, Bingo (Saturdays only), dances, quilting, recreational activities, exercise programs, field trips and health education. Our on-site central kitchen serves lunch Monday through Saturday at the center, as well as at five other sites throughout the city. The Home Delivered Meals program delivers meals to home bound seniors unable to go to a senior center.

History:
For the past 29 years, 30th Street Senior Center, a member of On Lok's family of services for seniors, has helped tens of thousands of seniors maintain their independence, stay healthy and has provided low income, at risk seniors with healthy and delicious hot meals both in their homes and in local dining rooms. We promote health and exercise through our Always Active programs and health seminars, and provide a warm, comfortable setting for socialization.

In its 29 years, over 40,000 seniors have benefited from 30th Street’s programs. We have been able to prepare and serve nearly five million meals and have provided almost half a million hours of classes ranging from aerobics, dance, painting and citizenship to seniors.
