Peninsula Ballet Theatre (PBT) is a California not-for-profit organization, formed for public benefit. Peninsula Ballet Theatre's mission is to support and foster a vital arts community in the greater San Mateo Peninsula through educational outreach and by engaging local art talent in the production and presentation of professional, live dance performances at prices affordable to all segments of the population including families, seniors and students.

Description:
Peninsula Ballet Theatre is a regional, traditional ballet company. We currently present three productions per year plus present a series of educational outreach performances.

PBT hires local (Bay Area) dancers, choreographers, technicians, and musicians.

We fund our program through 58% earned income (68% Ticket sales, 23% Fund-raising events and 9% related activities such as concessions) and 42% Contributed income.

History:
Peninsula Ballet Theatre was organized in 1967 as a not-for-profit corporation 501(c)(3) for public benefit whose mission was to operate as a student performing company. In 1971, the mission of the company changed to a resident (non-touring) professional company. In March 1993, with the retirement of the founder of the professional company, Peninsula Ballet Theatre reorganized and evolved from an organization run by a founder/executive director/artistic director, to a Board directed organization. The Artistic Director is now an employee of the organization. The association with the for-profit school was severed.
