Project Read - Menlo Park is a library-based program that enables adults and families to improve their basic reading and writing skills to help them achieve their goals and function more effectively at home, in the community, at work, and as life long learners
Description:
We offer free literacy assistance for adult learners in the Menlo Park area. Fostering volunteerism and community service are also integral parts of our program. We train volunteers to work with adult learners on a one-to-one basis. our learners are from the Mid-peninsula area and are of dicerse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. In addition to matching tutors with individual adult learners, Project Read also teaches small English classes and our Families for Literacy program is geared to adult learners and their pre-school age children.
History:
Since 1985 Project Read - Menlo Park of the Menlo Park Library has been providing literacy services to the community. Currently we have over 60 tutors and over 90 students.
