History:
In the Fall of 2003, Sor Juana Ines and the Center for Domestic Violence Prevention combined resources to create a new agency, CORA, Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse. The Center for Domestic Violence Prevention began in 1978 as La Casa de San Mateo, the county's only emergency shelter and transitional house for abused women and their children. From 1993-2003 Sor Juana Ines addressed the unique needs of the Latino community with counseling, support groups, legal services and outreach to battered women.
