WildCare advocates for wildlife for a sustainable world through programs in nature education and wildlife rehabilitation.
Each year we treat more than 3,000 wild animal patients in our wildlife hospital while we also advocate for wildlife through our Terwilliger nature education programs that reach 40,000 Bay Area children and adults annually.
Description:
In addition to wildlife rehabilitation and nature education, WildCare advocates on issues of wildlife/human interactions, and answers over 10,000 calls per year on our Living with Wildlife hotline. Visitors are welcome at our San Rafael facility seven days a week, where they can learn from our wildlife ambassadors -- former patients that can not be released because of the nature of their injuries -- that live in our courtyard. Our museum includes interactive games for children and an opportunity to touch taxidermied wildlife.
History:
WildCare was created ten years ago from the merger of two long-time Marin organizations -- the California Center for Wildlife and the Terwilliger Nature Education Center.
