We provide professional mental health, substance abuse, and social support services to strengthen our diverse community.
Description:
New Leaf Outreach to Elders (NLOE) comes under the umbrella of New Leaf Services. NLOE provides social activities, HIV support and mental health support to seniors 60 and above and disabled over 18 years of age. Activities include a choir, Yoga, quilting, hot lunches, writing groups, art, Men's and Women's potlucks and more. NLOE also provides the Circle of Loving Companions, a friendly visitor group that visits home bound LGBT seniors. NLOE also provides social services. These activities enrich the live of LGBT seniors who might other wise be isolated. The activities also provide us with a way to help seniors if they become ill.
History:
New Leaf was formally established in 1996 from the merger of two existing community organizations. Operation Concern and 18th Street Services. New Leaf Outreach to Elders (NLOE) was developed in 1982 as the need for specialty services for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered (LGBT) seniors was recognized.
