Provide education and opportunities for the community to participate in the arts.

Description:
Tapestry is a public-benefit 501(c)3 organization. We provide experiences in the arts that promote mental, emotional, and psychological growth to children at a crucial stage in their development. Tapestry offers a variety of quality, year-round, arts education programs, featuring arts residencies, where creative writing, drama, drawing, sculpture, murals, dance, and music are taught. Through our programs, Tapestry relates the world of visual, performing, and literary arts to people's everyday lives. Our programs include partnerships between Tapestry artists, educators, schools, community centers, shelters, and alternative learning sites. These programs are developed to provide well-rounded arts classes in a positive environment that bridge ethnic, cultural and generational boundaries.

History:
Tapestry Arts has been creating interaction between our community and the arts since 1976. It began as part of the country's bicentennial celebration and continues to this day with the annual Tapestry Arts Festival each Labor Day Weekend. Revenue from this annual event provides seed money to brings arts education to our schools and arts outreach to our community.
