Inspired by Gospel values, the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco offers hope and service to those in need, person-to-person, through parish conferences and professional programs, in a spirit of humility and friendship.
Description:
St. Vincent de Paul's programs in San Francisco include the Ozanam Center, offering drug and alcohol detoxification services for single adults; the Multi-Service Center South, offering services for homeless adults; Arlington Residence, low -income housing for single adults; Riley Center, services for battered women and their children; Vincentian Help Desk, offering clothing and emergency supplies for homeless people; Vincentian Life Program, volunteer community service programs. Through these programs, we serve 1000 people every day in the city.
History:
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been active in the United States since 1845. The Society was established in San Francisco in 1860, and since that time has been dedicated to meeting the needs of the most needy in society, through home visits, food, clothing, shelter, spiritual comfort and friendship. The objective is to help those in need become as self-sufficient as possible.
