4-H is an organization for youth, ages 5-19, that promotes hands-on learning and is based on parent and volunteer participation. 4-H welcomes all youth (and adult volunteers) from all backgrounds in all locales (rural and urban) regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition, ancestry, marital status, age, sexual orientation, citizenship, or status as a covered veteran.

Description:
The San Bruno 4-H Club serves youths in San Bruno, Millbrae, and South San Francisco. We have a small farm in San Bruno where market animals can be raised as well as a club room for project meetings. Currently we offer projects in large and small animal care, and life skills and hobbies such as gardening, cooking, needlework, and leadership. The Club has approximately 30-40 youth members. There is a strong emphasis on hands-on/experiential learning, and we receive help with project design from the University of California Youth Development Program. Youths hold offices in the club and learn responsibility, organization, mentoring, and giving back to the community.

History:
The national 4-H organization is over 100 years old. Our farm was built over 30 years ago with help from the City of San Bruno, San Bruno Elementary School District, the Millbrae Lions and Rotary Clubs, as well as help from many individuals. We continue to enjoy the support of these organizations, participate in the community and provide a unique educational environment for our members.
