The purpose of FORE is to prevent osteoporosis and diminish the impact of the disease on this and future generations and on society as a whole.

Description:
Our mission is to provide information, resources and support on osteoporosis and bone health to physicians, the public - people of all ages and races, and advocate with policy makers to reduce the devastating impact of the disease on this and future generations.

As a voluntary health agency, FORE is translating emerging research and science into actions that promote behaviors that build and sustain healthy bones across the lifespan, support appropriate diagnosis and intervention to reduce bone loss and prevent osteoporosis, improve access to evidence-based treatments, and prevent osteoporosis-related fractures. Our programs include research, education, patient services, and advocacy for bone health and osteoporosis prevention.

History:
FORE is a 501(c)(3) community benefit organization, formed in 1990 by a small group of physicians and community leaders concerned about the growing incidence of osteoporosis. They realized that this disease was beginning to have a destructive effect on a population that was living longer than ever before. As osteoporosis was diagnosed only in its later devastating stages and primarily in older women, it was becoming extraordinarily important to find (and intervene) in the early stages of the disease. It is the mission of FORE to fight osteoporosis through research activities, and education of both consumers and medical professionals with the ultimate goal of eliminating this debilitating and preventable disease. FORE is the leading resource for osteoporosis and bone health information in California. We have been nationally recognized for our work and take pride in our innovative and evidence-based programs.
