The mission of the New Conservatory Theatre Center is to champion innovative, high quality theatre experiences for youth, adults and artists to effect personal and societal growth, enlightenment and change.

Description:
The New Conservatory Theatre Center is a multi-faceted performing arts institution based in San Francisco, CA. We are a local theatre with far-reaching impact, a host of U.S. and world premieres, a haven for emerging artists, a voice for the LGBT community, and a hearth for a new generation of dedicated young artists and art-enthusiasts.
Our current activities fall under four major categoies:

  1. THEATRE PERFORMANCES on three stages explore LGBT themes, showcase cabaret professionals, and provide family-friendly entertainment.
  2. NEW PLAYS COMMISSIONS PROGRAM consists of a manuscript submission process and an extensive artist-in-residency program
  3. CONSERVATORY PROGRAM offers theatre arts training to youth and adults.
  4. YOUTH AWARE touring educational theatre addresses health and wellness issues of critical importance to young people.

  5. History:
The New Conservatory Theatre Center (NCTC) has been in operation for 27 years. Still led by its Founding Director Ed Decker, NCTC provides the San Francisco community with high quality youth education programming, gay theatre, cabaret and special events. The NCTC budget grew from $950,000 to $1.2 million in the last three years as a direct result of a visionary strategic planning process, prudent expansion of programs, and a responsible fiscal balance between contributed and earned revenues. This unprecedented growth proves that the community needs and supports the Center's unique programming and that it continues to be uniquely positioned to respond to that need.
