The Cartoon Art Museum is committed to fostering and promoting a greater appreciation of cartoon art. This it achieves through collecting, cataloging, preserving and displaying the finest representations of original cartoon art as well as through the development of innovative, interactive outreach programs designed to enrich the cultural life of our community.

Description:
The Cartoon Art Museum presents exhibitions of historical and cultural significance, retrospectives of masters in the field of cartooning, and new talent from the Bay Area. In addition to its regular schedule of exhibits, the Museum provides a number of outreach services designed to educate the public about the social contributions of cartoon art. The museum provides a tour and activity program for school groups and youth organizations. The museum hosts cartooning classes (adult and child) and presents lectures, slide presentations, and panel discussions. The Museum encourages the development of young local artists and museum professionals through internships and targeted programming.

History:
Created "on a napkin" in 1982, incorporated in 1984, the Cartoon Art Museum has presented over 100 exhibitions of original cartoon artwork and more than 25 publications in an effort to bring this unique art form to the general public.
