Carnaval San Francisco (CSF) strives to make multiculturalism a tangible reality by uniting people in the Carnaval Tradition of celebration with music, dance, artistry and food. CSF seeks to promote the rich diversity of the Greater Mission and the San Francisco Community by providing a shared cultural event which benefits the local community, by fostering business, creating jobs and presenting the best talents of our community to the greater public.

Description:
Our goal is to raise the standard for the production, marketing and promotion of CSF. We will work to support and engage the artistic community by making their participation as rewarding and gratifying an experience as possible. We shall make this possible by comitting to incorporate the following measures:

Provide funding for Prizes, as well as technical support for production costs to assist and develop the quality of the artistic production for several categories of parade contingents.

Establish a Carnaval Advisory Committee (CAC) to advise on and recommend on policies regarding the artistic, strategic and financial needs of the Parade and Festival Production.

Include as stakeholders of the CAC, members of our Community Based Arts and Cultural Organizations, local Schools and Merchant Associations to be active representatives of our community.

Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc., strives to improve the quality of life in the greater Mission Community of San Francisco by providing culturally sensitive human services that both support and empower individuals and families."

MNC has been a long-standing advocate in speaking out with and on behalf of our community and families to insure that we are all are treated with respect and fairness. We promote involvement in the civic and cultural life of our community. We embody the preservation of the Latino culture in the Mission District of San Francisco. The concept that cultural competency in community services is relevant, is more than a theory; we have practiced and demonstrated its effectiveness in the delivery of services with multi-ethnic staff to mirror our diverse client population

MNC owns four centers and provides a wide array of services in a dozen centers throughout the Inner and Greater Mission Districts. MNC provides culturally competent, bi-lingual services to our children, youth and elderly.

History:
Established in 1912 the Flagship Center on Capp Street is an Historic Landmark and has provided Head Start since 1969 and Senior Services since 1978. MNC has been involved in the lives of the Mission Community for more than 40 years. In addition to comprehensive and caring services, MNC produces Carnaval SF a 27 year San Francisco tradition of Latino Cultural celebration which draws over 300,000 people per year and is the largest in the Western states.
