We use art to help youth and adults heal their hearts and transform their lives.

Description:
Brush Fire Workshops use theater games, creative writing and painting to explore themes of interest to the participants. Themes covered in past workshops have included changes, strength, and belonging, to name a few. This participant centered curriculum is a great compliment to the Brush Fire teaching philosophy, which centers on creative exploration and places the highest priority on personal expression.

We seek to bring about a world where:

  • creativity energy used for art making evolves into creating options and opportunities
  • personal development grows out of art
  • telling our personal stories is witnessed and these stories are honored
  • art is an integral part of healing from the "isms" in our society
  • underserved communities build confidence, self-esteem and critical thinking
skills through experiencing heir own creativity
  • people are encouraged to develop emotional literacy, problem solving skills, and appreciation for diversity

    A Wonderful Learning Experience
Brush Fire is a WONDERFUL place to volunteer. I worked with kids who were in most need of art and healing. The kids were so warm and wonderful. They made me feel like a rock star! I only wish I could give them more.
