Volunteers assist English as a Second Language and Citizenship classroom teachers by working with students individually or in small groups. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with adults from diverse cultures who are pursuing life goals such as attaining citizenship, pursuing their GED, and improving their career potential. Knowledge of Spanish or Mandarin is helpful but not required. Volunteers should have native or near-native English fluency, patience, and an interest in working with people of diverse cultures. There is one Saturday training/orientation session followed by an observation of the class where the volunteers would work. This opportunity is sponsored by: San Mateo Adult School
