Volunteer for the 911 Power to the Peaceful Festival!!

Thanks for your interest in volunteering for the 10th Annual 911 Power to the Peaceful Festival on September 6th at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park!

Many facets of this event are volunteer-run. It takes people like you, devoting time, skills and energy to produce the 911 Power to the Peaceful Festival every year. Get involved! Be a part of this amazing day of music, art and activism aimed to educate, enrage, enlighten & inspire!!

On Saturday, September 6th 2008, the visionary musician, filmmaker and human rights worker, Michael Franti and his group Spearhead with Guerrilla Management bring you the 10th Annual 911 Power to the Peaceful Festival (PTTP) at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.

http://www.powertothepeacful.org

Confirmed 2008 SF Artists and Speakers:
Michael Franti & Spearhead, Ziggy Marley, Warren Haynes, Namkha Rinpoche of Tibet and more.

PTTP has been produced as an annual series of Free, outdoor music and arts festivals since 1998. The experience blends international and local musicians, fine artists, DJ’s and renowned speakers in a festival atmosphere. The first event was held in a neighborhood park drawing 6,000 people and over the past eight years has grown to the spacious Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park to host over 60,000 people!

In addition to the main stage of International Musical Artists, the festival features award winning speakers, an open-air art gallery of visual artists, a healing arts tent offering massage and yoga, an International DJ Tent, green vendors & food booths, an eco-village with workshops on sustainability and conservation, a bicycle coalition, recycling program and a diverse array of social and environmental organizations tabling. Past artists and speakers included String Cheese Incident, John Butler Trio, KRS-1, Digital Underground, Woody Harrelson, Angela Davis, Dennis Kucinich, Ram Das, Blackalicious, Alice Walker, Talib Kweli, The Coup, Saul Williams, Keller Williams, Lyrics Born, graf artist Vulcan, Youth Speaks Poets, Julia Butterfly Hill, and many more.

PTTP is a fun, educational, hip, diverse and family oriented event with a top-notch kids zone offering arts and crafts with an amazing peace flag-making workshop with Daily Acts, live theater with the Big Tadoo Puppet Crew, games, story-telling, face-painting, organic “snack-time,” an exhibit from The Museum of Children’s Art and a mid-afternoon Kids Parade. A favorite in the kid’s zone is the sing-a-long with Michael Franti, where Franti visits and sings with the youth.
