Volunteer Opportunity Details:
BFHP's Quarter Meal Community dinner has been served in Berkeley since 1970. Every year thousands of people get their only hot meal a day at our meal. We serve a hot entree with a vegetarian option, salad, vegetables, bread and a drink. "Greg" a homeless veteran living on the streets after losing his job came into the Meal and was so impressed by everyone's friendliness and helpfulness that he decided to take advantage of our housing stabilization services. He moved off the streets into our Men's Shelter, began an employment training program, began saving money and eventually moved into his own apartment. He was so grateful for the help he received that he began to volunteer at the Quarter Meal. There are minimal requirements. Volunteers must arrive about 15 minutes before the meal for orientation and to put on aprons and gloves. We can only usually use 10 people per day at a maximum. Expect to serve for about one hour from 4 -5 pm Monday through Friday. ![]() This opportunity is sponsored by: Berkeley Food And Housing Project
