Do you love the outdoors and want to make a difference in the life of a disadvantaged youth? If so, we are looking for you! We need volunteers to participate in our 8 day backpacking trips in California. Each trip has 5 adults and 5 teens from urban areas throughout the Bay Area. We wish to provide a backcountry experience for the teens guided by a team leader and adult volunteers who wish to make a difference in the teens lives. Those who volunteer with us do so because they believe in the majesty of nature and its ability to impact a life. If this describes you, please volunteer to come out on a trip with us next summer. The trips take place in July and August. BCM will train all volunteers, but experience in backpacking and/or working with at-risk youth is valuable. Medical training is also an asset. All volunteers will go through an orientation process and be screened before they are selected to participate with BCM. California volunteers must reside within 200 miles of the San Francisco/Oakland area. We are also looking for backpacking volunteers that live 200 miles from Denver, Portland and Seattle and paddling volunteers for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area that live in Wisconsin, Minnesota or Illinois.
