Child care assistants in the Playroom and at the Respite Center work alongside our professional staff. Volunteers have the opportunity to care for and play with really great kids. Volunteers provide more individual attention and support to the children.

The Playroom and Respite Care are part of an integrated set of clinical services, the TALK Line Family Support Center. Our clients, parents or guardians of minor children, are culturally and economically diverse. We work with them to help reduce their stresses, stabilize their families' lives, and encourage the development of their parenting skills.

The only skills required are a caring heart and a playful spirit. Playroom and Respite care assistants must be at least 18 years of age, go though a screening and interview process, and commit to one 2-3 hour shift per week for 6 months. Some teenage volunteers are also accepted.
