WE RELY ON OUR VOLUNTEER USHERS TO MAKE OUR PROGRAM RUN SMOOTHLY !! We are recruiting for the 08-09 school year, with the opportunity to try it out at our May 22, 23 showings of James and the Giant Peach. Our ushers commit to 6 performances per school year. The ushers need to arrive at 8:45 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. for a 9:30 or 11:30 a.m. performance. Any combination of shows will do; many ushers do more than 6 performances and stay and watch the shows. This requires walking in semi-darkness and managing a noisy, robust, environment. The rewards are fantastic! The kids light up, participate, and come out singing or dance-stepping what they've just seen. Some have never seen a live performance before and are transported to that wonderful world of imagination. SHARE YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPORTANCE OF LIVE ARTS BY USHERING IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF ARTISTS AND AUDIENCE!
Training is done on the "job." Many of our volunteers have been doing this for years and love to bring in new people. There is a balcony, so you need to manage some steps. Not physically strenuous however. This opportunity is sponsored by: Performing Arts For Youth Society
