Overall Experience
Building a strong community takes each one of us and The Volunteer Center is the place to start if you want to get involved.

When I first moved to SF I used the Volunteer Center’s superb online service to search for a volunteer opportunity in the arts and found a great organization, Star Mountain Art, to help with their annual fundraiser. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity, The Volunteer Center (and their website!) is the place to go. In February 2007 I started volunteering at The Volunteer Center, supporting the events and development coordinator with the preparations for Hats Off! A Celebration of Community Volunteers. This is a party The Volunteer Center organizes each year to honor outstanding volunteers and community service. It was a very rewarding experience! I got to do many different things and I always felt being part of the team. I enjoyed very much helping on a project that I saw coming to fruition this past April. The party was lots of
fun too. ☺
The entire staff is very nice and very professional. I was invited to attend their regular staff meetings which gave me the opportunity to learn about different aspects of the nonprofit sector and about volunteerism. The Volunteer Center is engaged in many different projects to promote and facilitate volunteering and volunteer programs and is a great resource for individuals and businesses alike. I highly recommend this place as a resource or as a place to volunteer. posted by Susanne on May 27, 2007 |

VCSF..... You ROCK

One of the first places that I volunteered with was Friends of the Urban Forest. For two years now I have worked with FUF at planting more trees in our beautiful city. Words cannot convey the feeling of immense satisfaction I get when I go back and see the trees I have planted. To be able to contribute to the city's beauty is sheer joy. Thank you so much VCSF for bringing Friends of the Urban Forest and I together. posted by curtissnagel on April 10, 2005 |

Enormously worthwhile and gratifying.

Joining the Volunteer Center has turned out to be one of the best things I've ever done. I am extremely grateful for the wonderful experiences I've had thus far and look forward to many more in the future. I've been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to work with staff, as well as other volunteers, and have participated in several annual events. Volunteering for the events (or the Center itself) is incredibly rewarding on so many levels, but the best part is working together and seeing the results. I am very proud to be associated with the Volunteer Center. I strongly encourage anyone, particularly those who recognize their responsibility to give back to the community, to get involved. I promise you won't regret it. posted by Erin M. on May 24, 2004 |
