Volunteer at the Technology Access Center Do you want to help people gain new job skills and achieve their career goals?
JVS is currently seeking volunteers to help our clients get through the current economic crisis. The Technology Access Center (TAC) is looking for individuals with good computer and communication skills to spend an few hours a week giving job seekers the one-on-one assistance they need to:
• Build their computer skills • Navigate online job searches • Fully utilize TAC resources for their job search To Get Involved: • Check out the description of the Volunteer Position below • Visit the JVS Website and fill out a Volunteer Form - http://www.jvs.org/Volunteer.html. Goal of the Position: The Technology Access Center (TAC) is a community computer facility and resource library available to anyone looking to improve their job-related computer skills or search for a job. Volunteers will empower clients to achieve their career goals by helping them grow confident and self-sufficient with computers. Primary Responsibilities: • Work one-on-one with job seekers to build their computer skills • Help clients navigate online job searches • Assist clients with using TAC resources for their job search Commitment: We ask that all volunteers make a commitment to volunteer at least eight hours a month during TAC operating hours (Monday-Friday, 11:00AM-4:45 PM).
Qualifications: • Patience and an open mind • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer • Creative problem solving skills, with communication and interpersonal skills • Tutoring or teaching experience is a plus Training: To help prepare you for your work in the TAC, JVS offers volunteers a general orientation to all of JVS’ services and programs, as well as specific training on how volunteers will provide support and assist TAC clients in their job search.
