Responsibilities:
Assist the >1 Unit in preparations for the Spring/Summer Season; events include training programs for the Wildflower Triathlon and San Francisco Marathon, and Seismic Challenge. Duties would include:
A. Management of mailings of participant registration gifts and incentives.
B. Supplying and/or staffing recruitment outreaches and events, training rides, water stops and other participant-related events.
C. Assistance in tracking participant activity via database and/or spreadsheets.
D. Timely updating of online calendars with information on training and fundraising clinics, training rides, and other participant-related events.
E. Production of event-related correspondence and forms, including thank you letters, registration forms, etc.
F. Conducting third-party research of pricing options for event supplies and participant incentives, site and venue availability, etc.
G. General administrative assistance to >1 staff.

Qualifications:

  1. Excellent organizational and communication skills
  2. Creativity and problem-solving skills
  3. Keen attention to detail
  4. Previous event planning experience preferred, but not necessary
  5. Database and Excel experience preferred, but not necessary
  6. Sensitivity to HIV-related needs and concerns
  7. Respect for confidentiality of HIV status
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to work with culturally diverse staff and volunteers including gays, lesbians, people of various ethnicities, and people with HIV
Skills gained from internship: Logistical, communications and decision-making skills are cultivated by working on participant pledge events.
How this position benefits the San Francisco AIDS Foundation: the Foundation benefits by having intelligent and motivated individuals assist in the continuing efforts to prevent new HIV infections and promote health among those living with HIV.

Training provided. This position is an unpaid internship, 10-15 hours per week, three month minimum commitment.
