SF Environment Description: The Department of the Environment's mission is to improve, enhance, and preserve the environment and promote San Francisco's long-term environmental sustainability.

Outreach Program Description: SF Environment's Public Outreach Program supports the goals of the Environment Department and its programs by providing clear, concise, and objective information about San Francisco's environment to the public and policy-makers. SF Environment's Outreach team collaborates with and provides environmental educational resources to a wide variety of San Francisco constituencies, and strives to motivate every San Franciscan (including those who visit or work here) to act as good stewards of their homes, their City, and ultimately, their planet.

Position Description: The intern will assist the Outreach program in performing professional level work promoting SFE behavior change goals by directly educating residents about the composting program. This is an unpaid internship. Responsibilities may include:

• Attend weekly campaign meet-ups every Wednesday from 5:00-8:00pm beginning on June 24th-Oct. 14th The campaign kick off will be held June 17th at 4pm at the SF Environment Eco Center.
• Represent SF Environment in the community in our grassroots door to door outreach effort providing residents in multi unit buildings kitchen pails and a brief overview of what goes in the composting service.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge of environmental issues and outreach methods
• Strong communication skills
• Familiarity with San Francisco
• Responsible, motivated, and able to work independently and in a team, and
• Word processing, spreadsheet, database, and internet proficiency

Desirable Qualifications:

• Campaign experience
• Knowledge of a language used commonly in SF
