Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Position Description: As the Housing Intern, you will be doing a number of things within our department, with a focus on assisting clients with applying for housing. Your duties will include:
-Investigate housing leads and pick up housing applications
-Developing and updating a master list of housing resources
-Making copies, updating the housing board, and other administrative duties
-Assisting clients with applications and questions in the weekly housing meeting
-Other tasks may be possible according to your interests, experience and skills

Skills, Qualifications and Personal Qualities this internship requires:
-Ability to listen, provide constructive feedback and empathetic support
-Excellent communication, interpersonal and listening skills
-Knowledge of San Francisco neighborhoods and community resources
-Ability to maintain professional boundaries
-Interest in working with diverse, disadvantaged populations including low literacy, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and impaired cognitive functioning
-Willingness and ability to maintain client confidentiality
-Strong ability in Microsoft Word and Excel & Internet research

Training and Supervision:
You will sit in on our housing workshop and you will be shown how to navigate affordable housing opportunities in San Francisco. Further monthly trainings on a variety of relevant topics are offered by Walden House if this is of interest. In addition, you will regularly check in with the Housing Specialist.

Location: We are located at 1550 Evans Ave, San Francisco, CA. Free gated parking is available.
