Teach someone to read! You'll be amazed what you learn! Tutor a child or adult in reading, writing and critical thinking skills.

Training

Training is five sessions, 2 sessions per week from 6 to 9 pm at the Redwood City Public Library. Call for exact dates.

Importance

Break the cycle of illiteracy and promote education and a lifelong love of learning.

Qualifications

Understand the importance of reading in our lives. Desire to help someone learn to read.

Availability

Meet with student once or twice a week, one - two hour sessions

Comments

We are a learner-centered program. Learning materials, meeting times and dates are individualized for tutor-learnier pair.

Benefits to Volunteer

Rewards are immeasurable, both for you and the community

Before being matched with a student, volunteers tutors complete 15 hours of tutor training. Tutor training and one semester of tutoring is an accredited college level course. The tutor training and all materials are free. Tutor training sessions are offered throughout the year. Call for dates (650)780-7077.
