Provide public information service as the first contact with library and museum visitors. Answer phone calls, provide requested information regarding library services and museum exhibitions. Keep and record hourly visitors' count. Ensure visitors observe restrictions in the facility, staffing reading room and monitor desk when needed. Qualifications Volunteer experience, especially library and museum work preferred. Interested in aviation a definite plus. No mandatory qualifications. Training Individual training given on first day of work. Group orientation to be scheduled. Will cover the background of San Francisco Airport museums, mission and organization of SFIA, public services provided by Aviation Library and Museum. Benefits to Volunteer Part of a team working with museums and library professionals, providing cultural and research opportunities to the traveling public and Airport community in a new and dynamic environment at an International Airport. Comments Volunteers should enjoy working with the public in this new facility, which is a contemplative environment - not as fast paced as the general airport passenger areas. The San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library and Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum is located at San Francisco International Airport in the International Terminal - Level 3. It is in the southeast corner of the Main Hall. Go past the ticket counters as if you were heading for Boarding Area A (Gates A1 through A12). You will see the glass entryway to the security checkpoint for Boarding Area A. Turn left in front of the entryway (do not enter the security checkpoint area). Proceed a few yards and you will see a large globe on your right next to the museum entrance.
