NQAF volunteers have the wonderful opportunity to earn valuable skills while contributing to the vibrancy of the local queer arts community. Volunteers provide front of house support for theatre, performance, dance and staged reading by local and national LGBT artists; assist in backstage and technical support for events; and assist with gallery and exhibition details, incl. gallery attendant duties. NQAF welcomes volunteers with experience and skills in festival production, stage management, volunteer coordination and non-profit arts management, as well as, those interested in learning knew skills and who wish to make contributions to their local community.
The National Queer Arts Festival has been fostering, promoting, and sustaining the highest caliber of queer artists and their work for over 10 years. The 2008 NQAF, June 1st – June 30th, is the biggest and brightest festival to date, with over 250 artists participating. The events will take place in and around the SOMA, Mission, and Castro districts. For every three shows worked, volunteers get two tickets to a festival event of their choice, as well as seeing the shows they work! Long-term volunteers will also receive 10th Anniversary t-shirt. Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation. This opportunity is sponsored by: Queer Cultural Center
